Greetings!
About Me
Hi there! My name is Mrs. Cristina Garcia and I am happy to be the 7th Grade Homeroom teacher here at St. Charles. This is my 6th year here and I love all of the amazing traditions that SCB and the community have created.
I have been full-time teaching for 11/13 (2 as a full time substitute) years, all in Catholic schools. I’ve always been in education, though, as I was a teacher’s aide when I was teenager at my former grade school and current parish (St. Anthony in San Gabriel), a graduate writing tutor who taught college students how to write and write well, and one-on-one tutor in college during my credential program. My passion is teaching—I knew I wanted to be a teacher by the time I was in the 4th grade when my 4th grade teacher made a HUGE difference in my learning. My approach to learning is to learn by doing, so we will be practicing many skills practically and in a hands-on way. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts in English Education with a single subject credential in English and a single subject credential in Math. I’ve always taught some sort of combination of English and Math and I LOVE them.
In my personal life, I’m a gamer, I go to comic book conventions, and Marvel is my favorite franchise (Captain America forever!). I knit, loom weave, crochet, read, watch movies, and generally enjoy all things crafty or geeky. This will be my third year of sharing my passion for learning with everyone at SCBS.
